Edita Vráblová graduated from the Faculty of Architecture and Design at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava and concurrently accomplished one-year scholarship at the Vienna University of Technology in 2002. Since then, she practices and works at the Institute of the Residential buildings of the FAD STU in Bratislava. She stands for the Associate Professor currently and devotes to the domain of residential buildings and progressive trends in temporary accommodation. She conducts a lot of activities in the architectural research and presents its outcomes at domestic and foreign science forums. She is a co-author of a foreign publishing monograph, a number of published scientific papers in journals and scientific conferences proceedings. She devotes mainly to the residential buildings and temporary accommodation in her architectural practice. She was rewarded in architectural competitions: 1st prize in an architectural competition verified by the Slovak Chamber of Architects, nomination for the ARCH Prize. Many projects and realizations were presented at several architectural exhibitions.

Michal Czafík graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the Slovak Technical University in Bratislava (2011) and concluded his PhD courses through the dissertation thesis (2014). He is currently working as an Associate Professor at the Institute of Architecture of Residential Buildings. He deals mainly with the research and the issue of social housing focusing on homeless people housing. He conducts lectures and teaches theoretical and practical courses. Author's existing portfolio includes published scientific papers, participation in international grant projects, as well as the number of completed architectural projects. He participates in many conferences home and abroad. The Ministry of Transport, Construction and Regional Development appointed him (2015) as a member of the jury for the assessment of affordable housing in Slovakia.

Graduated at the Faculty of Architecture in Bratislava in 2001 under the guidance of professor Peter Puskar.PhD degree achieved in 2005 with the topic “Humanization of hospital – How can architecture meet psychological factors in hospitals” under the supervisor of professor Magdaléna Samova. Working experiences from architectural offices in Slovakia and Holland. Nowadays working as senior lecturer at the Institute of the Residential buildings of the FA STU in Bratislava and besides making his own architectural practice with the colleague Marek Jablonsky.

She completed the studies at the Faculty of Architecture STU in Bratislava in 1985. Between 1985 -1993 she completed architectural practice at the department of the Chief architect of Bratislava, where she worked as Head of Studio for development of urban areas. Since 2000 she is a certified architect SKA . She works in the projection area primarily on urban plans and studies . Since 2003 she is working at the Faculty of Architecture STU in Bratislava with the pedagogic evolution: PhD. in 2004 , doc. in 2007. She has authored more than 200 scientific articles and reviews, expert opinions, as well as author and co-author of several books, monographs , which are focused on the housing issue. She is a member and coordinator of several international research grants .
About the Institute
The Institute of architecture of residential buildings has its goal coded in the name. Our goal is to educate students of the Faculty of Architecture STU in the field which is connected to the housing architecture. We see the field of residential buildings as an important one from the point of praxis. That is why we are concentrating our concept of education (foremost the workshops) at the connection to the real problems in praxis. Teoretical subjects of our Institute are aimed at the creation of complex knowledge background, which can be applied by students by designing a whole scale of the forms of residential buildings. We are concentrating in our architecture studios at the field of designing of various types of residential buildings, family houses, hotels, retirement houses, student dormitories as well as other non-standard typological types. We are studying the typological types of housing architecture in broad perspective of spatial, cultural, historical and social context. From that we unwind the metodical aproach to our teaching. The orientation on actual trends is also an integral part of our teaching. That support the idea of sustainability.
Studios at higher levels of study are thematically oriented (effective housing, housing for people of all ages, senior friendly housing, and housing diversity, housing and proximity, high density housing). They are solved in a comprehensive position: the broader context and urban spatial relationship to the architectural object and its detail. The basis for studio work serves in many cases the current domestic and international student and professional oriented architectural competitions (Xella, Velux).
Theoretical subjects of The Institute of architecture of residential buildings provide students with variety of expertly molded comprehensive views of selected specific areas which complexity is escalating gradually from the first year of the Bachelor study to the the second year of Master studies. The main theoretical subjects which have a separate lecture teaching blocks in I.grade of the study include: Residential buildings (I.year), Contemporary residential building and Context of the current housing (IV.year). In the second grade we provide in the theoretical position this subjects: Progressive trends in housing, Revitalization of residential areas, Social forms of housing and Rural visions, The profession of architect. Subjects taught in undergraduate studies are focused on professional issues, which binds itself to the basics of architectural design. Education in the engineering study is focused on current problems of current practices related to housing and the housing architecture....
A special feature of The Institute of architecture of residential buildings is professional specialization and profililation in the field of the architecture of residential buildings and housing issues and related areas.
Uniqueness and individuality is supported by a long university tradition, reference figures, which the Faculty and the Institute worked in the past. Institute develops the legacy of the teaching philosophy of professor Emil Belluš, in its interpretation form, supports the tradition of Professor Jozef Lacko price, which is connected to the institutes area of residential buildings. Teaching at The Institute of architecture of residential buildings is done by 14 teachers (including three associate professors, one regular, one visiting professor, 9 assistants) and 8 PhD students. The Institute of architecture of residential buildings also provides doctoral studies, which focuses on research in the field of forms of housing, senior housing, social housing in the context of actual conditions. Institute participates in teaching of foreign students in English and German and directly cooperates with the Faculty of Architecture VUT in Brno, Faculty of Architecture TU Vienna, Bauhaus Universität in Weimar and the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Vienna.
