On 18 and 19 March 2024, a training activity on innovation, STEAM and transdiciplinary approach in teaching took place at the Faculty of Business of the University of Economics. Learning and Teaching Training (LTT event) within the Erasmus+ project CT.Uni: Creative Thinking – Taking an Innovative and STEAM Approach for a Transdisciplinary University was held under the leadership of Veronika Orfánusová from the University of Economics in Bratislava and Zuzana Turlíková from the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava.
Lecturers from six foreign and two Slovak universities participated in the event and created expert teams during the training. The main objective of the expert groups was, besides sharing their own experiences in the field of innovation in education, to design and test the success criteria for the introduction of STEAM approach in pedagogical process at universities.
The expert groups consisted of teachers, course guarantees from universities of various fields (technical, sociological, economic fields). Thanks to this combination, high quality outputs were produced, which allowed us to look deeper into the issue from different perspectives. The event was enriched with their experience in the field by Jozef Orgonáš (Vice Dean for Development and Quality Management, Faculty of Commerce), Veronika Orfánusová (Faculty of Commerce), Branislav Zagoršek (Faculty of Business Administration), Peter Ostradický (Faculty of Education, Comenius University in Bratislava) and Šárka Patkošová, a professional trainer in the field of soft skills and innovative training methods.
The current challenges in education are bringing barriers but also opportunities, whether for educators, university managers or external stakeholders. Thanks to the CT.Uni project of the University of Economics in Bratislava and strong project partners, we are able to bring small but gradual changes to the educational process not only for Slovak, but also for foreign universities.
