The international jury, composed of recognized experts in individual areas of product design, spent two demanding days in Hurbanové kasárne (Barracks) evaluating and assessing 79 works in 8 categories of product design and selected those from which we will recognize the laureates in the fall. Each work was carefully assessed according to important criteria such as originality, aesthetics, functionality, technical maturity and sustainability.
The jury’s decision was not easy, because the level of submitted works was also high this year. After intensive discussions and thorough examination of each work, the seven-member international jury consisting of Michal Staško (SK), Mária Račeková (SK), Stefan Moritsch (AT), Valerio Lupi Cherubini (IT), Václav Mlynář (CZ), Pavel Masopust (CZ), Jakub Berdych (CZ) and one external advisor Tomáš Šetaffy (SK) decided to select 67 works for the exhibition and from them 25 nominations in the categories: Fashion & Fashion Accessories, Home & Public Space, Work & Mobility, Art & Design & Craft, New Horizons and Student Design.
This year, the jury decided not to award nominations and not to advance the works to the exhibition in the Sport & Leisure category. Nominations were not awarded in the Society & Environment field, but you will see the works at the autumn exhibition. „The proposals were going in the right direction, but none of the projects fulfilled the assignment in full. The commission sees a great future in this category and hopes that more creators will be approached in the next years,“ said Pavel Masopust, NCD23 judge.
The laureates will be announced during the gala evening in the fall.
