VEGA: Audit program – universal accessibility of the built environment
Project Number: 1/0707/08 /Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the SR
Duration of the Project: 2008 - 2010
Main target:
The existence of the barrier-free environment is one of the conditions for social inclusion and employment of disabled persons. Because the influence of valid legislative regulations related to this field seems to be insufficient, it is necessary to find other more effective methods. One of them is the certification of buildings from the viewpoint of requirements in four groups of disability – physical, visual, hearing and mental. Plan of presented project of audit program is to define the basic requirements for buildings for housing, education, services, transport and leisure time in such a way, they would be accessible not only for all visitors and users, but they also would offer possibility to employ disabled people. Buildings, which will meet defined requirements of audit, will obtain certification and will be marked with international symbol of accessibility to be compatible with European Union requests.
Design for All – Universal Design. IP Erasmus, Lifelong learning programme
