4th Izmo International Summer School – Public Art and (semi)Public Space
Izmo has organized the fourth edition of the Izmo International Summer School in Turin, from July 22nd to August 1st 2013, which focuses on public art and the (semi)public space. The course is aimed at students, graduates, professionals and, in general, anyone who is interested in sustainable art and creative design.
The lectures (in English) will be held by experts, professors and artists involved in the field of art work, urban design, cultural management, with the aim to provide broad and multidisciplinary insights into the topic. Furthermore, students will have the opportunity to gain firsthand experience of methods of sustainable and interactive design that will enable them to work creatively with different materials and to approach participatory design practices.
The training offered will be further enhanced by a meeting with guest lecturers Numen/For Use [Croatia-Austria],
Students will receive all the necessary materials and working tools and members of the Izmo crew will mentor them during each phase of the project. Participants to the Winter School will be awarded 4 credits recognized by Politecnico di Torino and transferable to any other university (with ECTS).
In addition, we will provide constant support in logistics, housing research, mobility, and tourism.

Izmo was established in 2006 in Turin, Italy. The organization focuses on participatory process, local development, architecture, design and ICT. The name Izmo originates from the word isthmus, a thin line of land that joins two areas. Our research topic is in fact the territory: where interactions take place between public space and individuals. Our mission is to link the territories, the people with the land and the citizens with each other. We do this, for instance, through projects of urban design, installation; organization of seminars, meetings and workshops; and developing of Web platforms. In all cases, the projects designed by Izmo come from reading and from listening to people and places that will benefit from our operations.
